Do you have a secret you just can’t divulge? Secrets are a drag. Sooner or later they clamour to be told and they end up roiling around in your brain. They come back again and again, sometimes in the middle of the night. The usual way to defang a secret is by writing it down and burying it in a box, but this trick is getting a little old. Another more therapeutic way is telling it to someone. But perhaps posting it on the Web is your safest bet. Postsecret.com is a website that encourages you to write your secret on a postcard and post it. A place where you will discover that you’re not the only one, even in your innermost thoughts. On this website you can find all secrets of all stripes. They are finally aired and become the least secret thing in the world.
Look at the latest secrets posted on www.postsecret.blogspot.com (it’s also in Facebook).
A variation on this theme are randomly found messages: www.foundmagazine.com
There are also other websites where you can reveal your secrets, most of them without images such as www.secrettalk.com.

The rain has arrived along with the cooler air, and this means that it’s time for urgent measures to get a clear idea of what you’re going to wear this season. Fashion is like a huge treasure chest of surprises. The winter 2008 treasure chest! Open it up… what do you see? Colours like black, flaming red, bright blue, purple, yellow, white, earth tones, shiny colours and ethnic, classic and geometrical prints… Aren’t there any rules? There are infinite fabrics: sophisticated or natural, simple or sensual, novel textures. And what about the garments? Filmy skirts, shorts, pipe-leg trousers, fur vests, long jerseys, high waists, evening gowns, trainers. You can find reminders of the 1950s alongside other periods. When you’ve taken a look at all this, you think: I’m going to go mad! Here’s our answer: Perfect!

Would you exchange your house with someone from London, Singapore or Bahia? Why not? I spend a week in your bungalow in Tahiti while I lend you my flat in the middle of Madrid. This low-cost travel alternative appeared back in the 1950s, but thanks to Internet it is gaining enormous ground: almost 20% of summer vacationers join the home-swapping trend. There are innumerable websites, and this is how it works: 1-You register your home, 2-You look for a destination, 3-You choose a home and get in touch with the owner.
Try a brand-new experience, or just dream about it from your office, like a post-vacation de-stressing exercise:

It was harder than if we had built a real shop with Lego pieces, but now it’s ready to go! Finally we’ve got the online shop we had dreamed about. It’s a hyper-practical, organised and fully stocked virtual women’secret where you lead the way, regardless of whether you’re looking for a specific item in a hurry or whether you’re just looking. You can send your friends recommendations or even gift packages. A thoroughly and painstakingly thought out shop in all its details. Plus, something we really love: you can see the garment so close-up that it’s almost like touching the fabric.
We’ve sent more than one computer programmer to the verge of a nervous breakdown, but we haven’t settled for anything less than what we set out to do. Thanks for your patience…

The latest: mini-cabins have been installed in Shibuya, the trendy neighbourhood in Tokyo, where for 600 yen (around €4) you enter with your private school uniform and your backpack on wheels,, and you have half an hour + everything you might need (mirror, Wi-Fi, beauty tools, soft drinks) to emerge as a Gothic Lolita. Whereas before schoolgirls changed their looks in train stations, or escaping through the window of their parents’ house, now we wonder how far Tokyo street fashion will go with this new trick. Keep watching this space…

When a new season’s approaching, that’s when talking about fashion we talk about keys: you’ll be wearing fluorescent clothing, golden costume jewellery … What bothers us is that it’s alright to be getting into the mindset of big shoulder pads and triangular pendants, but what is there to buy in the meantime? There is no need to panic. The reality is more freedom and more wearable clothes: lots of natural fabrics, sophisticated and feminine details, embroidered and crocheted garments, stylish fit. Familiar colours and small prints with dashes of colour. Of course there’s the 80’s, and also Scottish, futuristic, oriental, forest … In the end, we’re fortunate that we can carry on choosing, matching and making the most of our options, each to our own style. Enjoy an autumn which is both romantic and different, which is as it should be.
