ANIMALS TO TAKE HOME WITH YOU
We’ve been thinking long and hard about posting an article about wallpaper – for quite a while now it has been something of a must when it comes to decorating – and we’ll be doing that very soon, but we’ve found something else which is closely related that we couldn’t ignore. It’s all to do with a book of very novel photographs, Catherine’s Animals, which is full of images of animals displayed against a wallpaper background. The idea is original in its own right: mostly wild animals photographed in a domestic environment created by the wallpaper design. But what delights us the most are the colours and motifs chosen for the individual papers that go with each animal. They really do have backgrounds which reflect the personality of the animal in each case. We have put together a small selection for you, but the book has a whole zoo’s worth to enjoy: geese, pigs, swans, raccoons, crocodiles, sloths, cows, etc.
The photographs are by Catherine Ledner who works as a photographer for top North American publications such as Vanity Fair and the New York Times. She grew up in New Orleans surrounded by dogs, rabbits, pigs, tortoises and other animals, so it’s no surprise that she would want to express her love of animals in her book. Here, more than one of us would dearly love to get their hands on the book!
