This has been stealing the limelight from other finishes for quite some time and now slate has found a niche in the current decorative trends. And we like it!
It was first used on the walls of very trendy restaurants and has since gradually found a place in home decorating trends. Now, however, slate is not only used on roofs or outdoor flooring, kitchens and bathrooms. In fact, it is used on whole walls, in pictures, on pillars… well, on almost everything which can be made into a make-shift blackboard, where you can leave the shopping list or say whatever you want. How?… get out the blackboard paint. In other words, any object can be turned into a surface on which you can paint and express your ideas with coloured chalk.
In w’s we wanted to pay tribute to this blackboard-esque trend with the collection of Felix the Cat this season, by taking dark backgrounds with figures drawn on with strokes of chalk. And to put the icing on the cake, we have this packet of magnets with chalk in the shape of a speech bubble. You can jot down anything you like.
What’s more, we’ll leave you with a few amusing examples that we have come across on the internet in recent months. Surely they will give you some ideas about personalising some part of your home!
