WITH THE ALBA ASSOCIATION WE ARE WORKING TO SUPPORT WOMEN
We know that women are important, that their work in the world is essential and that anything we can do to further their development is a necessity.
Women’secret has donated a total of €28,638 to the ALBA Association to fund the project to “Prevent AIDS in Burkina Faso, through the promotion and professional training of women”.
Since it was first founded in 1987, the ALBA Association has been working to help people with drug dependencies by creating professional mechanisms for the prevention, assistance and social reintegration of people with drugs-related problems as well as AIDS.
The AIDS Prevention and the Promotion of Women Project in Burkina Faso aims to prevent this disease through training for women.
To achieve this aim, at the end of 2006 the Alba Association set up the Sewing Training Centre in Burkina Faso, which allows women to gain personal and economic independence.
The direct beneficiaries of the sewing workshops run are young women in this area who, thanks to the training and earnings they receive through the sale of the finished product, will contribute to the family economy and at the same time help to reduce prostitution in the area and poverty-related crimes.
