This is one of the boldest campaigns women’secret has embarked on to date. Not just because of the message, but also because of the way we’re getting the message across.
The fight against gender violence continues to cause a major headache for many governments. But little can be achieved if the victims of this kind of violence continue to suffer in silence as if they were ashamed to speak up and tell their story. This unmentionable secret that so many women are unwilling to own up to is the slogan for the campaign launched by women’secret and Amnesty International this spring 2010 in Portugal: “Gender violence shouldn’t be a secret”.
Together with illustrator André Letria, we’ve featured this slogan on a mini collection made up of 3 T-shirts and 2 pairs of shorts with bold messages designed to help us say no to gender violence. w’s has promised to donate €25,000 to this worthy cause.

Just a little effort was all it took to help get this great project off the ground. Once again, w’s decided it can do something to help others. So, in November 2009, and together with other brands in the Cortefiel Group, we organised a charity market in Madrid. In just a few days we managed to raise a grand total of 17,605 euros! On this occasion the money raised was donated to NGO Naya Nagar, which is financing the Mera Parivar food and education project (Mera Parivar means ‘my family’ in Hindi). The money will also go towards setting up a project providing training for health professionals in nursing and nutrition for babies.

Our hearts are with all the victims of the Haiti earthquake.
The situation is critic so some of the NGOs working on the country have already set up bank accounts to take donations to help all devastated communities. Grupo Cortefiel (the company that owns women’secret) usually collaborates with Fundación Lealtad, that has sent to us a full list of NGOs you can make a donation to. Because each and every one of us can make a difference!

Is it possible to design smiles?
At women’secret we try to find reasons to smile and take our smiles wherever we go. Today we have the opportunity to spread this spirit beyond fashion and we’re so excited! During the month of November, women’secret is collaborating with the charity Sonrisas de Bombay (Mumbai Smiles) for the building of 5 nursery schools in the city for children between the ages of 2 and 6 years.
Sonrisas de Bombay is going impressive work with underprivileged children in the vast urban sprawl of this Indian city. Some 5,000 orphans and families from vulnerable Mumbai communities have gained the chance of a better future.
Throughout the month of November, shopping in women’secret will mean making someone smile on the other side of the world. Gandhi once said: “Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

Driven by the same enthusiasm, conviction and sentiments as last year, we’ve launched another special collection aimed at providing support for one of Portugal’s best-known charities – Associação Laço – in its nationwide fight against breast cancer.
For 2009 we have further strengthened the ties we made last year with the creation of a modern and sporty collection featuring a golden motif printed on plain backgrounds. The idea was to make all those Portuguese women that wore items from this collection to feel that they have done their bit to set up new centres of excellence for the diagnosis and treatment of this illness in Portugal.
The first celebrities to collaborate with us in setting up this campaign included Ana Rita Clara, Joana Cruz, Joana Seixas, Mafalda Pinto, Rita Redshoes, Sandra Barata Belo and São José Correia.

We’ve been moved by the threat to cuddly pandas for some time now. And to elephants, and to whales, and to bears in danger of extinction. So we’ve been thinking of a way to get each and every one of us to spare some thought for all those endangered species on our planet. And so armed with our enthusiasm for building a future where humans can live in harmony with nature, we’ve done what we know how to do best: we’ve come up with an exclusive collection of pyjamas, sweatshirts, briefs and socks featuring animals in danger of extinction. The designs are simple, and feature earth tones such as green, blue and cream. The styles are comfortable and the soft cotton fabrics ensure that you will feel great in your skin…
Essentially, this is a declaration of intent. An attempt to create a collective sense of awareness regarding the impact that changing habitats and modern-day life are having on many animals.

Every year the women’secret showroom organises a charity market, where all the garments displayed in the showroom for press features, catalogues or collections that for various reasons failed to arrive in the stores in time are sold at token prices.
This means that everyone can do their bit! For the last two years, the money raised has been donated entirely to the SESPM, the Spanish Breast Disease Society, as part of our commitment to collaborating to the study and prevention of breast diseases such as breast cancer.
In 2009, we’ve donated €39,000 to this cause.

Bimba Bosé, women’secret and the Spanish Cancer Association joined forces in October in the fight against breast cancer with an exclusive collection designed by the Spanish model. And the results couldn’t have been better! A total of €150,000 have been donated to research for a cure and for implementing preventive measures for this illness.
A big thank you to Bimba and all of you who have made this possible with your purchases.

We’re convinced that the dream of making the world a better place can come true.
Working in collaboration with the NGO Madre Coraje, our project – Pyjamas for a dream – has enabled thousands of people living in Peru’s poorest areas to receive thousands of garments donated by women’secret.
We’re appealing to you for help: for every pair of pyjamas sold in our stores we’ll be sending an item of sleepwear to Peru’s neediest via the Madre Coraje NGO. We’ve realised that there’s a seemingly insurmountable amount of work to be done, but small or big actions such as this really can make a difference and contribute to making the world a better place.
Your reaction has been nothing short of spectacular, so we’d like to thank you once again for joining in with this charity project and w’s modest contribution to helping others.

women’secret has embarked on a new mission to fight against Breast Cancer, this time in Portugal, in collaboration with the Associação Laço.
We’ve come up with a fabulously laid-back collection in cotton featuring purple motifs that is perfect for women of all ages. Everyone purchasing items from this collection will be contributing to the fight against cancer, as a percentage of the sale price is destined to this cause.
