Summer wouldn't be summer without sunglasses

THE ONLINE STORE IMAGE FACTORY

Hurrah! We thought they’d never arrive, but here they are at last! Because summer wouldn’t be summer without sunglasses. In fact, sunglasses are to summer what scarves are to winter.

They’re not just about protecting your eyes (incidentally, all our sunglasses feature sun protection lenses). It’s also a question of fashion, of identity, of shouting out “Look at me – these are my favourite sunglasses (even though you think they’re weird!)”.

At women’secret we’ve got heaps of styles, all in the latest trends. Two amazing aviator models – some covering more of the face than others – and in a choice of colours. In fact, all the colours of the rainbow! Pinks, purples, browns, blacks and reds. You’ll also find ‘Top Gun’ styles in blue and brown, as well as – wait for it! – a transparent style for those who love the ‘nerdy’ look that is bang on trend.

The online store image factory

THE ONLINE STORE IMAGE FACTORY

Have you ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes at an online store? When you enter a high street store you can look around, touch, smell and feel the garments…but what about when you visit an online store? The buying sensations in these two types of store are radically different, and very often the motivation varies as well. But despite these differences, the essential idea is to make sure that when you visit the online store, you can get a good idea of the product and imagine the textures and sensations…Our aim is for the experience to be similar to shopping at a high street store…and of course, for you to click on the buy now button.

The place where we create all these images is a photographic studio that has become like a second home for us. We spend hours and hours there, working on photo shoots that leave us feeling exhausted, under the watchful eye of Marisa, our stylist. But they’re also lots of fun: there’s music, delicious things to eat, prepared specially for us by Sergio, the photographer, and lots of fun and games!

The city of impossible skylines

THE CITY OF IMPOSSIBLE SKYLINES

And how about taking a trip to a city of impossible skylines and colours?

Great, here we go. It’s a small city that’s rapidly expanding upwards, with slopes and twists and turns that reveal the most unexpected everyday surprises. In order to spot its inhabitants, you have to be a bit of a voyeur, peeping through windows, surprising the teenagers as they combine sunbathing and revising for their exams, or the old man taking his daily walk…A fantasy world dreamed up by a Mexican artist who experiments with designing objects made from cardboard and paper. If you’d like to find out more about her work, then check out her website at www.anaserrano.com

We love things that let our imagination run riot.

Summer’s on its way

MMMMMMMMMM! SUMMER’S ON ITS WAY…

Although there are weeks to go before the season officially gets underway, the truth is that we’re already celebrating the fact that we can put the rain behind us and look forward to the sunny days ahead. From now on the sun is king: temperatures are rising, the days are getting longer, and it’s time to savour a refreshing shandy….and lots more wonderful treats besides.

Here at women’secret we love summer. It’s great for losing track of time and the perfect excuse for a little madness. The heart rules the head, which means that love may be just around the corner.

We work all year long to create swimwear collections designed from the heart that will allow you to be swept away by that crazy summer feeling. Styles for holidays in the countryside or by the sea. Or styles that combine both options: fashions that look great on the beach and the street.

Dreaming of a weekend break?

DREAMING OF A WEEKEND BREAK?

To travel or not to travel. Are weekend breaks really worth the effort?

Leaving aside those endless traffic jams and packed beaches as soon as the first rays of sunshine come out, it bothers us that those short breaks finish when the good weather starts (as the old saying goes, ‘Cast not a clout till May be out’). If you expect bad weather, at least you won’t be disappointed, although miracles are always welcome at this time of year ;)

But the truth is we’re in need of a break!

So we’ve come up with some great ideas for those who are bold enough to get away for a few days as well as for those who aren’t. So here we go: a journey to your inner self; a tour of your city; or a spur-of-the-moment trip.

Summer photo shoot

SUMMER PHOTO SHOOT

Not long ago we flew to Fuerteventura for the summer collections photo shoot. (Check out the ‘making of‘ here on our website). Carry on reading to find out more about what goes on during a women’secret photo shoot.

Although we always take great care over the preparations, there’s just no stopping those butterflies fluttering about in our stomachs as we wait to board the flight. What we will do if it the weather’s awful? Will the team get on? After all, with just two days time is tight, there are loads of styles to photograph, and some of us have never met before…so how will things turn out?

We arrive at Las Gaviotas Apartments. Lluis, our manager, made sure there was a warm welcome waiting for us, and we’d like to thank Monica and Marisol for all the trouble they went to and their patience. They were happy to let us move the furniture around and didn’t bat an eyelid at all our weird and wonderful requests!

Dreaming that summer is already here

DREAMING THAT SUMMER IS ALREADY HERE

After a long, cold winter, we’re ready to head for the beach the minute the sun comes out. Dreaming of far-away destinations, travelling companions, buying tickets, etc., is excellent therapy for those longing to put away those scarves and snuffles. Shopping for summer clothes is also another excellent option. The women’secret collections for this summer are inspired by a range of sun-kissed experiences, encouraging each of us to follow our heart. And that’s what summer’s all about: letting your heart rule your head, and finding time for love…

Women’secret’s recommendation is that you start with your bikini and basic accessories so that an unexpected trip to the beach won’t catch you unawares.

Geometric is our most sofisticated proposal, with top quality, modern, simple and versatile designs.
Palsm will let you dream with exciting and seductive experiences: chocolate and in blue Miami prints.
Bandana has been designed under the most refreshing hippy influence you can imagine.
Multicolor is a basic collection following the summer acid colors that you may combine as you want.

I love sticky tape

I LOVE STICKY TAPE

The blogsphere is packed with blogs to suit all tastes. And if you’ve ever been called a weirdo because you feel a certain fascination for things that the rest of the world doesn’t seem to care about, then there’s bound to be a blogspot where people just like you spend hours and hours chatting and learning about the kind of things that you like.

For instance, have you ever spent 20 euros on a piece of cellophane you spotted in a museum shop but have never actually used? Is the ribbon on the gift wrapping the most exciting thing for you about a present? If the answer is yes, then you’ll definitely get a buzz with this blog on sticky tapes which is, to say the least, intriguing and varied. The author’s declaration of intent makes it absolutely clear:
This blog is dedicated to the art and times of sticky tape, which also goes by the names: sello tape, packing tape, gaffer tape and masking tape. It may be of interest to anyone interested in stationery, catching flies, art or design.

Miffy at the museum

MIFFY AT THE MUSEUM

We all know that Holland is a great country, crisscrossed by canals, packed with coffee shops and blooming with tulips. But it may come as a surprise to learn that Miffy, the celebrity bunny rabbit, is also Dutch. Or rather, the creator of this cute bunny is Dutch. Dick Bruna is a world famous artist renowned for his simple, yet direct graphics.

Bruna created the first sketches of this character back in 1955, which ever since has been a reference for young and old alike. Sketches based on the imaginary adventures of a bunny rabbit that the artist used to tell his son at bedtime. Perhaps that’s why the tales are still so popular with tiny tots.
